The main cast, teaser image, and 2023 launch date for the television anime adaptation of Takuma Sakai's Heat the Pig Liver (Buta no Liver wa Kanetsu Shiro) light novel series were announced on Friday.
Yoshitsugu Matsuoka will voice the pig, and Tomori Kusunoki will portray Jess. The two repeat their roles from Dengeki Bunko's promotional film for the series from March 2020.
According to the isekai legend, if you pass out after consuming raw pig liver, you will be reincarnated as a pig in a world of imagination and go on an adventure with a kind girl named Jess who has the ability to read people's minds. One common otaku who has no special skills or talents other than being reborn as a pig experiences exactly that.
After receiving the gold prize (effectively second place) in the 26th Dengeki Novel Prize in 2019, Sakai released the novel series with illustrations by Asagi Tsaka (The Demon Sword Master of Excalibur Academy, Girly Air Force) on March 10 of the following year. Kadokawa's Dengeki Bunko imprint issued the seventh volume on Friday.
Minami launched a manga adaptation in Kadokawa's Dengeki Maoh magazine in August 2020. Kadokawa published the manga's third collected book volume on July 27.
