Blue Exorcist Gets New TV Anime Series

 The anime adaptation of Kazue Kat's Blue Exorcist manga is receiving a new television series, it was confirmed during the Jump Festa '23 event on Sunday.


In celebration of the information, Kat shared an illustration on Twitter.

The Blue Exorcist manga was published in Jump SQ by Kat. in 2009. The manga took a break in July 2021 and started up again in May 2022. On November 4, the manga's 28th volume was released. More than 25 million copies of the manga are in use.

The manga's English release from Viz Media provides the following plot summary:

Rin Okumura was raised by renowned exorcist Father Fujimoto and never knew his biological father. One day, after a crucial debate with Father Fujimoto, Rin is forced to confront the horrible reality that the demon lord Satan's blood flows through his veins. At order to vanquish Satan, Rin must enroll in the enigmatic True Cross Academy and train as an exorcist. Can Rin defend his infernal lineage while fighting demons? It won't be simple, especially if the demonic power residing within him is released as he draws his father's sword!

2011 saw the debut of both the Blue Exorcist: Kuro Runs Away From Home OAV and a 25-episode television anime series based on the manga. The Blue Exorcist then had its Japanese premiere in December 2012. The first 12 episodes of the 2017 television anime The Blue Exorcist: Kyoto Saga were shown.

A number of novels and theater plays are also part of the franchise.
